New York, NY – Today, Houston-based rapper Yung Pooda releases his official worldwide debut single, “Repeat Dat.” Produced by the GRAMMY® award-winning duo Cool & Dre [JAY-Z, Beyoncé, Nas] “Repeat Dat” flexes his laidback flow and airtight rhymes over a slick beat and melodic swell. On the chant-able chorus, he commands, “Get it, count it, stack it, spend it, do it again and repeat dat process.” Listen to the track here.
“Repeat Dat” is the first song from Pooda’s forthcoming EP, Vivid Pictures. The EP will be produced by Cool & Dre and features collaborations with Calboy, Jucee Froot and more. “It’s about my past, present, and future life,” he reveals. “I’m really big on the law of attraction and speaking thoughts into existence. I had a past in the streets. I was getting money every day without a job or support. When I got out of the streets, I was still getting paid Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.”
The Orange, TX native uses his own life as inspiration for the lyrics. Yung Pooda counts OutKast, JAY-Z, Lil Wayne, Master P, Ludacris, DJ Screw amongst his influences. Since performing at local showcases he’s steadily been building a following, earning endorsements from the likes of DJ Hi-C of Houston’s 97.9 The BOX who says, “J Hi-C/KBXX-Houston "He devours beats… he's always been a lyricist and now he's one of the hardest working MC's I know." In the last two years he’s been the opening act on multiple tour dates throughout the South with Z-RO, Boosie Badazz and teamed up with the platinum-selling artist Paul Wall for the 2017 single “Beat Up The Block.” Pooda’s performances and music have caught the attention of many, including rap impresario Fat Joe who predicts, “I have my eye on this guy, and he’s coming for the future…”
In 2019, his music made its way to It’s A 10 Records, a newly formed full-service Miami-based record label and production company headed up by successful entrepreneurs/philanthropists Jeff and Carolyn Aronson and distributed by The Orchard/Sony Music. The It’s A Record team connected with Cool & Dre who are closely working with Pooda as he introduces his signature style on his forthcoming EP, Vivid Pictures.
